"I returned from Vietnam in July of 67 where I was an OV-1 Mohawk pilot. I was stationed at Hunter AAF and was one of the first Army personnel on the base- it was an Air Force Base.  During my tour in Savannah as being in charge of the airfield and part time night manager at the officers club I met Steve.  My wife was alive at that time and we all became very close friends after Steve met Suzanne Wimbush from Savannah.  I visited Steve in North Carolina after he finished his flight training and I discharged from the Army.  I have never, and will probably never meet a person as good as Steve Bovio."

"Here is a picture of Steve Bovio in happier times in 1967 in Ft. Worth Texas.  He was the best man at my wedding.  Steve's favorite song was... "I'd like to get to know you, if I could."  Steve had not met his wife at this time.  We had both just finished OCS and were in flight school at Fort Wolters in Mineral Wells Texas.  I retired after 25 years.  Steve was a hell of a man and I still miss him."
