On 11 May 1970 the 281st Assault Helicopter Company lost four of its top crew members in a rocket and mortar attack on the Company's compound at Pleiku, South Vietnam. They are: SP5 Joseph W. Cunningham, Jr., SP5 Scott Eugene Sutherland, SP4 Danny Joe Taulbee, and SP5 Daniel Joseph Vaughan WO Duke Payne, SP5 Cunningham, WO Bob Gardner
